Ministerial Team
Ministry Leader: Pastor Stanton Drinks, Sr.
The Ministerial team at the Golden Star Baptist Church is available to assist you in your spiritual growth through leading services and events, teaching classes and lending an ear or a hand to help you. If we can help you in any way, please contact the Golden Star Church office at 215-769-2235. The Ministerial team is comprised of Pastor Stanton Drinks and our Associate Ministers.
Deacon Board
Ministry Chairman: Deacon Derrick Drinks
The mission of the deacons is to be servants to the congregation, and our pastoral staff by alleviating the pastoral staff of congregational demands, allowing the pastors to focus on the study of God's Word, and the spiritual development of the body of Christ. This is an appointed ministry.
Trustee Board
Ministry Chairman: Trustee Edward Green
The Trustees of Golden Star Baptist Church oversee the assets and act as the legal representatives of the Church. The Trustees have responsibility for:
- Receiving and accounting for all funds under their control.
- Operations and maintenance of the physical plant, including alterations within the limitations of the approved budget.
- Contracting for and supervision of new construction.
Caring For Our Pastor
Ministry Leader: Sis. Irene Gilliland
Our Pastor is the most valuable asset of our ministry because he is the shepherd that feeds the flock. This ministry is designed to cater to the needs of our Pastor. Though it is hard for him to ask, we recognize that he must be provided for. All members of Golden Star Baptist Church are members of the Pastor's Aide Ministry. The Pastor's Aide is looking for hard working, dedicated individuals who have a love for our Pastor and don't mind giving of themselves as he so often does.

SANCTUARY MINISTRIES
Greeters Ministry
The Greeters Ministry is devoted to making members and visitors alike feel welcome as they enter the sanctuary. This is an appointed ministry.
Hospitality Ministry
Ministry Leader: Sis. Sharon Johnson
The Hospitably Ministry is responsible for providing the welcome address during our worship services and providing cards and encouragement to GSBC members who are sick, shut-in and who have lost a loved one.
Music Ministry
Ministry Leader: Bro. Lawrence Drinks
The Music Ministry provides musical accompaniment of all church services including the choirs, the Praise Team and special musical guests. As anointed minstrels, they are responsible for maintaining the flow of the service under the direction of the Holy Spirit and Pastor Drinks. Because of the great reasonability of the minstrel in the house, this is a selective ministry, based on a combination of skill and anointing.
Tape Ministry
Ministry Leader: Sis. Sharon Johnson
The tape ministry is responsible for the audio taping of every worship service, and the sale of audio tapes after each service.
Unity & Praise Chorale
Ministry Leader: Deacon Elliott Lee
The GSBC Unity & Praise Chorale is an auditioned choir open to adults and youth aged 13 and older. This choir performs every Sunday and also during selected week night services. Bi-weekly rehearsals are held every other Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Ushers
Ministry Leader: Sis. Nellie Stewart
The Ushers Ministry serves the congregation prior to, during and after church services. They are responsible for maintaining an orderly flow during each service.
FELLOWSHIP MINISTRIES
Marriage Enrichment
Ministry Leader: Pastor Stanton Drinks, Sr.
The goal of this ministry is to provide Christian Education to married couples and those wishing to be married. The focus is : to promote God's plan for marriage through the teaching of the Scriptures and to encourage couples to work toward the ideal in relationships set forth in the Holy Scripture
Men's Fellowship
Ministry Leader: Bro. Michael Cox
Our Men‘s Ministry is responsible for building character, promoting maturity, advocating accountability and fostering fellowship among the brethren through Biblical principles and practical Godly teachings. ALL Men of Golden Star are invited to be a part of this ministry.
Sisters In the Spirit
Ministry Leaders: Sis. Inga Burgess, Sis. Bernice Drinks
The Women of our congregation meet monthly to fellowship in praise, worship, prayer and discussion. We focus on praising God and uplifting one another.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Located in
North Philadelphia, Golden Star Baptist Church recognizes
the need for community outreach programs to enhance the physical
and spiritual lives of our neighbors. We have developed a
reputation for being a "church who cares about the community." Led
by our Outreach Ministry Team, GSBC displays our commitment
to the community through a variety of programs and activities,

Drug & Alcohol Abuse
Ministry
Ministry
Leader: Deacon Frank Tennant
Golden Star's Drug & Alcohol Abuse
Ministry conducts weekly meetings to help any one with
a drug and/or alcohol addiction and their families learn to
cope with and overcome this disease. Meetings are confidential
and are conducted by a certified drug and alcohol counselor.
Food Bank
Ministry Leader: Sis. Libby Johnson
GSBC is a food distribution
site for North Philadelphia. On the second Saturday of each month,
the GSBC Outreach Team distributes food to eligible residents
of the 19121 zip code.
Witnessing Team
Ministry Leader: Minister Ann Henderson
Golden Star's Witnessing Team convenes weekly to
canvas the neighborhood and help lead souls to Christ. All members
of Golden Star are encouraged to join the witnessing team.
Any one interested in joining the witnessing team, must
first complete a two-week training session.

Bible Class
Ministry Leader: Pastor Stanton Drinks, Sr.
Golden Star's Bible Class is held every Tuesday at 7:00pm to help the Believer learn the tenets of the Christian faith and how to live according to God's Word.
Food Bank
Ministry Leader: Sis. Libby Johnson

YOUTH MINISTRY
At Golden Star, we focus on providing the children and youth members of our congregation with a solid Christian foundation through service and fellowship. Our youth department activities and programs include:
Boyz To Men
Ministry Leader: Bro. Emanuel Lewis and Bro. Frank Tennant, Jr.
Held monthly, these two-hour mentoring sessions provide GSBC Teen Boys ages 13-18 with an outlet to express themselves and share common experiences in a fun and confidential atmosphere.
Children's Choir
Ministry Leader: Sis. Jameelia Drinks
The Golden Star Children's Choir performs on the 5 th Sunday of the month. Children throughout the congregation are encouraged to participate. The choir consists of Golden Star Youth aged 17 years and younger.
Junior & Young Adult Ushers
Ministry Leader: Sis. Nellie Stewart
Working in conjunction with the Adult Ushers, the GSBC Children & Youth Ushers serve as doorkeepers and greeters of our members and guests. The Children and Youth Ushers consist of Golden Star Youth between six (6) and 17 years of age.
Praise Dance
Ministry Leader: Bro. Frank Tennant, Jr.
The GSBC Praise Dancer Team worship God through theatrical dance performances. This ministry is open to youth of all ages.
Sista 2 Sista
Ministry Leader: Sis. Sharon Cox
Held monthly, these two-hour mentoring sessions provide GSBC young ladies ages 13-18 with an outlet to express their feelings and share common experiences in a fun and confidential atmosphere
Twinkling Stars
Ministry Leader: Sis. Renee Baker
Held quarterly, these fellowship sessions provide the GSBC girls between the ages 5-12 with fun events and activities.
OTHER MINISTRIES
Kitchen Committee
Ministry Leader: Sis. Rena Christmas
The Kitchen Committee manages GSBC dining facilities, including the planning of meals and the coordination of food service.
Newsletter Committee
Ministry Leader: Sis. Taryn Cutler
The newsletter committee publishes and distributes our church newsletter, The Golden Star Gazette. The newsletter is distributed quarterly to our members, friends and neighbors.
Planning Committee
Ministry Leader: Sis. Jackie Christmas
The GSBC Planning Committee coordinates our church celebrations and social activities. Activities coordinated by the Planning Committee includes Church Anniversary, Pastor & First Lady Anniversary, picnics, bowling parties and birthday celebrations.
William T. Cherry Scholarship Fund
Ministry Leader: Sis. Octavia Drinks
The William T. Cherry Scholarship Fund was established in July 2005 in honor of our late chairman Deacon William T. Cherry. The Committee’s goal is to provide financial aide to the members of GSBC who are pursuing a college education.
Drama Ministry
Ministry Leader: Sis. Charlene Wright
Drama Ministry is a part of the church that illustrates the Word of God through theatrical productions.
